South House

The striking feature of this sun-filled house is its proximity to the forest. Views of greenery and native trees in both the bedrooms and the living spaces are accentuated by the high ceilings and open plan layout. The timber and stainless steel kitchen has large sliding doors, which, when opened to the private timber deck, contribute to this “inside/outside” feel. The walls are filled with art including a 60 piece framed installation by Tine Holscher of Denmark, which adds a dramatic backdrop to an Ib Geertsen standing sculpture (itself inspiring the design of the quirky orange island bench in the open plan kitchen).

One bedroom has an indoor/outdoor bathroom with a copper bath surrounded by a wall of palms.

The other bedroom is adjacent to the main building and is accessed through a breezeway. It looks onto another very large courtyard with comfortable outdoor seating.

The design of this house will excite guests whether they be a group of friends, a family, or a couple.
